Mark Rich was born on September 19, 1976 in Newburyport Massachusetts. Mark now resides in Hudson New Hampshire. Mark Grew up in Haverhill MA where He lived from 1984 - 2009. Mark began playing drums at the age of 15 and is self-taught. Music has always been one of Mark's favorite things. Mark always heard music in the house as his Mother used to play records of 50's and 60's era Rock N Roll as well as Country music. Mark has 2 uncles, Dave and Bob who both played drums so it was natural that Mark gained an interest in playing drums. Mark would just listen to cassettes and focus on what the drummer was doing and try to emulate it in the air. One day Mark got daring and skipped school and set up his uncle's drums while Ma was at work. After about 2 months of doing this every other week for one day He got caught. All was not bad as Mark had recorded himself playing and played the tape for his uncle Bob who was very surprised that Mark could actually hold a beat.

FIRST TIME PLAYING ONSTAGE/FIRST FULL TIME BAND

After a few pointers and a trip to an outing that both uncle's Bob and Dave were playing at (His uncle Bob played rhythm guitar and sang too) Mark seemed to be ready to attempt playing on stage in front of an audience. The one song that Mark played was Hank Williams' "Your Cheating Heart" which came out pretty good so Bob said. this started Mark on the journey of becoming a serious musician. He travelled with Bob and Dave with each of thier bands and learning and "sitting in" here and there. Finally in 1992 Mark played his first full show with his uncle Bob's band in Ossipe New Hampshire at the Pine River Campground. This gig paid $20 which wasn't bad for a High School sophmore. Mark was on his way and in March of 1993, He got his first full-time band job working with the "Al Lucky Band" in Dracut Massachusetts at the "Rendezvous Lounge" every Friday and Saturday night. Mark played there for 2 years until the band broke up. Mark was back where He started from.

STARTING OVER/MEETING PAUL GOODRIDGE

In 1997 Mark tagged along with his uncle Dave while He worked with a band called Shadow Creek. It was at that time that Mark had met Paul Goodridge. In 1999 while attending a jamboree in Seabrook NH Mark ran into Paul again. Within a week Paul called Mark about possibly playing bass guitar with the Saltwater Cowboys band whom Paul had been working with off and on. Mark agreed and played the shows. It was during this time Mark got an offer to join a band full time with Paul called the Win Place and Show Band. Mark joined the band with Paul and has been with Win Place and Show since.
